What can I expect having my flowers pressed?
We are taking a three-dimensional bouquet or arrangement and creating a one-dimensional, framed piece of art. The florals will look different. If you are leary, contact us for a appointment in our studio so you can see our work in-person.
How long will my order take?
The process can take up to 24 weeks depending on the season. Our busiest time is June through October, so orders in those months take longer. The florals take up to 12 weeks to press, sometimes longer depending on the flower and the humidity.
Is there a flower you can’t press?
Artificial flowers and already dried flowers. Neither are flat enough to fit into a float frame. Marigolds are tricky.
My bouquet is dried in my closet from my wedding 8 years ago. Can you still frame it?
No, unfortunately the pressing process is moisture based, something dried flowers do not have. However, I work with a talented local florist who can recreate your bouquet so it can be pressed properly for framing!
Will my pressed floral change through the years?
Yes! The flowers will age and fade somewhat as the years go by depending on the florals. Greens will become less vibrant. Don’t worry, there’s beauty in every stage of your flowers!
Do I have to order in advance?
We will always try to fit in a last minute order if our schedule allows, as long as it’s within 3-5 days of your event. Between the months of May through November, our schedule is much busier, so it’s always best to order ahead if and when it’s possible.
What flowers press best?
FRESH flowers! Vibrant colors tend to keep their color better than white, which tend to press yellow or cream. We do natural layouts only, no color correction. If you plan to have an all white bouquet, let’s talk. We have a few tricks that will make it pop and have more dimension once pressed and framed. We also offer acid free paper backgrounds such as black that will really add contrast to an all white bouquet.
Do I have to have special event flowers to order from you?
No! We have pre-made art, such as an animal or a state shape, ready for purchase and can make floral monograms or a custom design from our inventory of pressed flowers.
I didn’t know about flower pressing when I got married and threw my bouquet away. What can I do?
I work with a talented local florist who can help recreate your bouquet by pulling a few of each of the florals!
How should I care for my pressed bouquet?
Don’t hang your frame in direct sunlight or in a hot, humid room such as a sunroom or bathroom.
To keep one single petal from going into the garbage, we recommend a few organizations where your extra wedding flowers (that aren’t being preserved!) can be donated. These organizations accept donated florals to repurpose and give to local nursing homes, hospitals and hospice care centers.
While we are not resin artists, we can recommend a few great local options for preserving your bouquet in resin! Check them out below.
